Identify the core components of a professional proposal and draft a structured document that effectively pitches a viable solution, detailed project plan, and timeline to a targeted audience.
Monitor project milestones and write clear, concise progress reports that communicate completed work, current statuses, future tasks, and potential roadblocks to stakeholders.
Apply formal technical writing standards, page layout principles, and structural guidelines to ensure complex reports are visually accessible, organized, and easy for readers to navigate.
Synthesize technical data to systematically build the key sections of a comprehensive report, including the introduction, detailed discussion/body, evidence-based conclusions, and actionable recommendations.
Condense lengthy or technical documentation into high-impact, brief communications (such as memos, abstracts, and executive summaries), prioritizing the most critical takeaways for busy decision-makers.

Create a brief, informal proposal to present a potential research topic to your group for Assignment 3. This exercise will help you practice crafting persuasive technical communications while developing your ability to articulate research ideas effectively. Your group will then discuss and choose one from the topics proposed here for the assignment. You should only see your own group in this discussion board.
Write a 1-2 page informal proposal that outlines your proposed research topic. Your proposal should convince your research group members that your topic is worth pursuing and fits within the assignment objectives. You will need to review the assignment prompt for Assignment 3 for this.
Your proposal should include a problem statement/background, proposed research focus, proposed research methods, expected outcomes, and a timeline of milestones over the next few weeks.
Comment on your groupmates' proposals to discuss and finalize a topic. Feel free to also use this discussion board to swap contact information for use over the rest of Assignment 3.
